The APT Diploma in Working with Crisis or Risk.
The APT Diploma in Working with Crisis or Risk provides 90 hours (or more) of focused training and is from the Association for Psychological Therapies (APT), a leading provider of training for professionals working in mental health and related areas in the UK and Ireland.
It is the only such Diploma that is Delegate–Accredited and uniquely combines built-in APT Registration with automatic access to our renowned post-course resources to help you support your clients. The course is available for teams and individuals and can be attended face-to-face or online.
Executive Summary:
The APT Diploma in Working with Crisis or Risk provides 90 hours (or more) of training, leading to Level 4 APT Registration. Attend the diploma as an individual or we can bring the training to you for a fixed fee, to ensure you get a supportive group addressing the same material.
The diploma comprises at least 15 days of training made up by attending your chosen courses from the list below (e.g. five 3-day courses). If you are part of a team then your team/organisation chooses the courses and you then all attend the same ones:
Risk Assessment and Management:
- The DICES® System for Risk Assessment and Management (3-days / 2-days) *
- Crisis Intervention: Risk Assessment, Risk Management & Effective Intervention (3-days) ^
- Assessment & Risk Assessment of Children & Adolescents in Crisis™ (3-days / 2-days) ^
- Aggressive-Behaviour Control: The ABC Course™ (2-days / 1-day)
- Suicide-Risk Assessment and Management (2-days) ^
Working positively with challenging and difficult behaviour:
Therapeutic Interventions for those at risk:
- Key Knowledge & Skills for working with Anger and Violence (3-days)
- The ADDRESS® Course for working with Personality Disorder (3-days) * ^
- Key Knowledge & Skills for Suicide Prevention (3-days) *
- Trauma focused CBT, for all ages (3-days) ^ *
- Single-Session Therapy: Delivering Maximum Benefit (2-days) *
- CBT for Working with Offenders (3-days / 2-days) ^
- CBT with Non-Suicidal Self-Injury: There Must Be A Better Way® (2-days) *
- 10-minute CBT: The BITS™ Course (2-days) ^
Interventions to support those working in this area:
- Preventing PTSD after major incidents at work and elsewhere (3-days / 2-days)
Key:
* Course also available for individuals and whole teams to attend 'online anytime'.
^ Course also available for individuals to attend 'online live'.
To be awarded the diploma, students must also complete an online exam (in their own time) after each course.
If you have already attended one or more of these courses in the last 2 years, then you have an exemption for that subject(s), you don't need to attend the same course again. If you have already attended the equivalent of one or more of these courses from another training-provider in the last 2 years, then again you have an exemption for that subject(s), although you do need to submit evidence of the training and pay a reading fee for APT to assess it.
Please note that the diploma should be completed within 2 years from the date you undertake the first course.
The diploma can be achieved either by enrolling on the full programme, or by purchasing and completing the individual qualifying courses separately over the 2-year period.
What you receive as a result of attending the training:
You will be registered as having attended the course, thereby gaining The APT Diploma in working with Risk, and receive a certificate to this effect and Level 4 APT Registration which gains you access to the resources associated with the course.
Your registration lasts indefinitely, and your accreditation to use the resources lasts for 3 years and is renewable by attending a Masterclass top-up day or submitting evidence of continued practice, and your reflections on that practice (to the required level).
