Teaching Mindfulness in Clinical Practice, Level 1 is an APT-Accredited 2-day course from one of the UK's leading providers of Mindfulness training. We bring the training to your own organisation and up to 15 people can attend (for maximum cost-effectiveness), or attend the course as an individual. (Refresher course also available.)
Mindfulness is a psychological intervention that we dream of: it works both for clients/patients and us, and its effectiveness is demonstrated not just by clinical studies but by the unusual number of people testifying to its benefit. Moreover it is a quick, simple concept with obvious validity and relevance. It fits with the thinking of those who maintain that "To live effectively and well cannot be a complicated thing, so any intervention to help people do so should not itself be complicated”.
Mindfulness has very wide application, and people who attend this course normally fall into one of two categories:
1. Professionals who see patients in 1:1 treatment settings, have a significant degree of clinical skill, and wish also to be able to teach Mindfulness to patients.
2. 'Whole teams' (either in inpatient or community settings) seeking to develop a common approach to Mindfulness.
The professional affiliations of people attending this course include: mental health/psychiatric nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, clinical psychologists, educational psychologists, psychiatrists, probation officers and others working in a variety of settings including: Adult Mental Health, Children and Adolescents, Older People, Substance Misuse, Forensic.
If you are a complete novice to mindfulness, you will know how to use elementary techniques (demonstrated and practised on the course) with your clients and, if you are committed to practising, will build up your confidence and effectiveness. So as a result of the course you will:
You will be registered as having attended the course, thereby gaining APT's Level 1 accreditation, and receive a certificate to this effect. The accreditation gives you access to online resources associated with the course and access to the online exam if you wish to uprate your APT accreditation to Level 2.
Your registration lasts indefinitely, and your accreditation lasts for 3 years and is renewable by sitting an online refresher which also upgrades your accreditation to APT Level 2 if you are successful in the associated online exam.
Your accreditation is given value by the fact of over 100,000 people having attended APT training. See APT accreditation for full details.
Option 1: Bring the course to your organisation:
We bring this 2-day course to your own organisation for a fixed, all-inclusive fee of £3,330 plus VAT and up to 15 people can attend.
To book, call (UK) 0116 241 8331, or click the button:
Option 2: Live webinar:
This course can be provided as a live webinar for groups. A webinar typically takes slightly less time than the live course on which it is based (because of less group discussion and group exercises) but they are live and pleasingly interactive.
Delegates can be anywhere that is conducive to concentrating, all together or separate, so long as they have access to a computer with a good internet connection.
Webinars from the APT are the only ones that automatically include registration and certification, APT-accreditation and access to any post-course resources.
Option 3: 'Train the Trainer':
If you or a colleague are a senior professional (e.g. consultant psychologist) and have a talent for communication and teaching, then you are welcome to apply to become an APT-accredited tutor. You could then tutor the course - or your chosen modules from it - in your own organisation, under license.
This is not only a highly appropriate use of senior professionals, but it also saves your organisation the tutor-component of the fee (around 50%) each time you run it or your chosen modules.

APT prides itself on the feedback we receive about our courses. Below are just some of the great comments the 'Teaching Mindfulness in Clinical Practice, Level 1' course has received.
“This has been one of the best training events I have ever been on in many, many years of work and attending training. I have been particularly impressed by the tutors flexibility in approach in the way she responded to the a) knowledge and experience of the group and b) the individual and group requests for application of the learning to specific area of work. I have attended many mindfulness courses in the past but none have left me feeling so empowered and motivated to commence my own personal practice. Thank you."
“A really excellent introduction to Mindfulness which has spurred me to learn more. Frankly I achieved more in these two days than on any of the previous courses on Mindfulness that I have previously attended ... Thank you for teaching me so much."
