The APT Diploma in Psychological Therapies.
The APT Diploma in Psychological Therapies provides 90 hours (or more) of focused training and is from the Association for Psychological Therapies (APT), a leading provider of training for professionals working in mental health and related areas in the UK and Ireland.
It is the only Psychological Therapies Diploma that is APT-accredited and also gives you access to APT’s relevant downloadable resources for use post-course. The course is available for teams and individuals and can be attended face-to-face or online.
Executive Summary:
The APT Diploma in Psychological Therapies provides 90 hours (or more) of training, leading to Level 4 APT accreditation. Attend the diploma as an individual or we can bring the training to you for a fixed fee, to ensure you get a supportive group addressing the same material.
The diploma comprises at least 15 days of training made up by attending your chosen courses from the list below (e.g. five 3-day courses). If you are part of a team then your team/organisation chooses the courses and you then all attend the same ones:
- Motivational Interviewing, and how to use it effectively (3-days) ^ *
- DBT Essentials (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) (3-days) ^ *
- Teaching the Life Skills at the heart of DBT™ (3-days) ^
- CBT Essentials (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) (3-days) ^ *
- SFT Essentials (Solution Focused Therapy) (3-days) ^ *
- ACT Essentials (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) (3-days) ^ *
- CFT Essentials (Compassion-Focused Therapy) (3-days) ^ *
- Trauma-Focused CBT, for all ages (3-days) ^ *
- The RAID® Course for working with Challenging Behaviour (3-days) *
- Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) (3-days) ^ *
- Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) (3-days) ^
- IPT Essentials (Interpersonal Psychotherapy) (3-days) ^
- Preventing PTSD after major events, at work and elsewhere (3-days)
- 10-minute CBT: The BITS™ Course (2-days) ^
- Teaching Mindfulness in Clinical Practice (2-days) ^
Key:
* Course also available for individuals and whole teams to attend 'online anytime'.
^ Course also available for individuals to attend 'online live'.
To be awarded the diploma, students must also complete an online exam (in their own time) after each course.
If you have already attended one or more of these courses in the last 2 years, then you have an exemption for that subject(s), you don't need to attend the same course again. If you have already attended the equivalent of one or more of these courses from another training-provider in the last 2 years, then again you have an exemption for that subject(s), although you do need to submit evidence of the training and pay a reading fee for APT assessing it.
Please note that the diploma should be completed in not more than 2 years from the date you undertake the first course.
The Diploma can also be awarded by completing the individual courses separately, across 2 years.
What you receive as a result of attending the training:
You will be registered as having attended the course, thereby gaining The APT Diploma in Psychological Therapies, and receive a certificate to this effect and Level 4 accreditation which gains you access to the resources associated with the course.
Your registration lasts indefinitely, and your accreditation to use the resources lasts for 3 years and is renewable by attending a Masterclass top-up day or submitting evidence of continued practice, and your reflections on that practice (to the required level).
