'Attachment in Practice™' is a 3-day course from the Association for Psychological Therapies (APT), a leading provider of training for professionals working in mental health and related areas in the UK and Ireland.
It is the only Attachment Disorder training that is Delegate–Accredited and uniquely combines built-in APT Registration with automatic access to our renowned post-course resources to help you support your clients. It is available for both teams and individuals, face-to-face or online, and can also count towards The APT Diploma for working in Child & Adolescent Mental Health. (2-day version also available.)
Knowledge of attachment disorder, what it is, how to identify it and, in particular, what to do about it, is now recognised as important for those who work with children and adolescents. In recent years attachment disorder has become recognised as a discrete clinical entity, and one that appears to have distinct causal links with behavioural and emotional problems in children and in the development of personality disorder in adulthood.
This course therefore examines the concept of attachment disorder, the mechanisms behind it and, in particular, how to identify it and intervene in a helpful way.
Knowing about AD and identifying it, is not enough – one needs to intervene to remedy it as far as it is possible. The bulk of this course therefore describes – and allows you to practise – the interventions that are available whether you are working directly with children or via others, for example foster carers.
You will be registered as having attended the course, thereby gaining APT Registration Level 1, and receive a certificate to this effect. The registration gives you access to online resources associated with the course and access to the online exam if you wish to uprate your APT Registration to Level 2 (note, the exam is inbuilt into the 'online anytime' version of the course).
Your record of attendance lasts indefinitely, whilst your APT Registration Level lasts for 3 years from the date of completion and is renewable.
APT Registration Levels are given value by the fact that over 150,000 people have attended APT training. See APT Registration for full details.
