Psychosis Masterclass Training

APT's unified approach to working with Psychosis, Course 6:

The Masterclass. Integrating skills of assessment and formulation to develop effective personalised interventions.

'The Masterclass. Integrating skills of assessment and formulation to develop effective personalised interventions' is a 3-day course from the Association for Psychological Therapies (APT), a leading provider of accredited courses for professionals working in mental health and related areas in the UK and Ireland.

It is the only Psychosis Masterclass training that is APT-accredited and also gives you access to APT’s relevant downloadable resources for use post-course. The course is available for teams/organisations and can be attended face-to-face or online.

Please note: you can attend one, some, or all of 'APT's unified approach to working with Psychosis' courses, in whichever order is best for you.

Executive Summary:

Having knowledge about specific CBT interventions is not sufficient to treat psychosis as well as it can be treated. One needs to know also how to 'conceptualise' what is happening in a specific instance, to be able to 'make sense of' what is happening and thereby be able to plan the best intervention possible, regardless of the degree to which that plan involves CBT interventions, family interventions, help with social factors, help with occupational matters, or anything else.

What the skilled professional needs to be able to do is to form the best overall plan for the person concerned, probably involving extensive use of CBT type input but fundamentally free from 'allegiance bias'. The aim of this course is to help delegates to achieve this.

Who should attend:

Delegates should have some experience of CBT in psychosis, and some autonomy in their clinical practice.

Agenda and learning objectivities:

The objective here is to help delegates see key issues and how they can best be tackled. The job of the tutor is to facilitate these objectives by giving enough space for delegates to reach their own conclusions, while at the same time adding helpful information in the style of a 'masterclass'.

What you receive as a result of attending the training:

You will be registered as having attended the course, thereby gaining APT's Level 1 accreditation, and receive a certificate to this effect. The accreditation gives you access to online resources associated with the course and access to the online exam if you wish to uprate your APT accreditation to Level 2.

Your registration lasts indefinitely, and your accreditation lasts for 3 years and is renewable by sitting an online refresher which also upgrades your accreditation to APT Level 2 if you are successful in the associated online exam.

Your accreditation is given value by the fact of over 100,000 people having attended APT training. See APT accreditation for full details.
