Psychosis Masterclass Training

Working with Psychosis, Course 6:

The Masterclass – Integrating Assessment and Formulation into Effective Personalised Interventions.

'The Masterclass – Integrating Assessment and Formulation into Effective Personalised Interventions' is a 3-day course from the Association for Psychological Therapies (APT), a leading provider of accredited Psychosis training courses for professionals working in mental health and related areas in the UK and Ireland.

It is the only psychosis training that is Delegate–Accredited and uniquely combines built-in APT Registration with automatic access to our renowned post-course resources to help you support your clients. The course is available for teams and organisations and can be attended face-to-face or online. It can also be completed as part of the The APT Diploma for Working with Psychosis and you can attend one, some, or all of APT's Working with Psychosis courses, in whichever order is best for you.

Executive Summary:

Having knowledge about specific CBT interventions is not sufficient to treat psychosis as well as it can be treated. One needs to know also how to 'conceptualise' what is happening in a specific instance, to be able to 'make sense of' what is happening and thereby be able to plan the best intervention possible, regardless of the degree to which that plan involves CBT interventions, family interventions, help with social factors, help with occupational matters, or anything else.

What the skilled professional needs to be able to do is to form the best overall plan for the person concerned, probably involving extensive use of CBT type input but fundamentally free from 'allegiance bias'. The aim of this course is to help delegates to achieve this.

Who should attend:

Delegates should have some experience of CBT in psychosis, and some autonomy in their clinical practice.

Agenda and learning objectivities:

The objective here is to help delegates see key issues and how they can best be tackled. The job of the tutor is to facilitate these objectives by giving enough space for delegates to reach their own conclusions, while at the same time adding helpful information in the style of a 'masterclass'.

What you receive as a result of attending the training:

You will be registered as having attended the course, thereby gaining APT Registration Level 1, and receive a certificate to this effect. The registration gives you access to online resources associated with the course and access to the online exam if you wish to uprate your APT Registration to Level 2 (note, the exam is inbuilt into the 'online anytime' version of the course).

Your record of attendance lasts indefinitely, whilst your APT Registration Level lasts for 3 years from the date of completion and is renewable.

APT Registration Levels are given value by the fact that over 150,000 people have attended APT training. See APT Registration for full details.
