'CBT for Weight Loss' is a 3-day course from the Association for Psychological Therapies (APT), a leading provider of accredited courses for professionals working in mental health and related areas in the UK and Ireland.
It is the only CBT for Weight Loss training that is APT-accredited and also gives you access to APT’s relevant downloadable resources for use post-course. The course is available for teams/organisations and can be attended face-to-face or online. (2-day version also available.)
Over eating is a devastating problem for millions of people. In many parts of the developed world, food is so plentiful and of such a high quality and attractiveness that consumption has rocketed, with consequent problems in terms of health, fitness, relationships and career. Many approaches show little signs of helping: any weight loss is either minimal or short lived. It is therefore imperative to think in terms of a well-structured approach based on an effective therapeutic theory.
People who attend this course normally fall into one of two categories:
1. Professionals who see patients in 1:1 treatment settings, and wish to increase their ability in working with problems around eating.
2. 'Whole teams' (either in inpatient or community settings) seeking either to boost their level of expertise or to develop a common approach.
The professional affiliations of people attending this course include: mental health/psychiatric nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, and others.
All delegates are registered at APT as having attended the course, and receive a certificate to acknowledge their attendance, registration, and APT-Accreditation at the appropriate level. As a bona fide APT event, this course automatically has accreditation from the Association for Psychological Therapies. This accreditation is given weight by the fact of over 125,000 professionals having attended APT training.
Upon completion of the 3-day course, delegates will receive APT's Level 1 Accreditation.

Option 3: 'Train the Trainer':
If you or a colleague are a senior professional (e.g. consultant psychologist) and have a talent for communication and teaching, then you are welcome to apply to become an APT-accredited tutor. You could then tutor the course - or your chosen modules from it - in your own organisation, under license.
This is not only a highly appropriate use of senior professionals, but it also saves your organisation the tutor-component of the fee (around 50%) each time you run it or your chosen modules.
