The Association for Psychological Therapies is a leading provider of training in Schema-Focused Cognitive Therapy. We can bring any of the following Schema-Focused Therapy courses to your own organisation and train a group of professionals for a fixed all-inclusive fee, no matter where you are. All of the training is accredited by APT and delegates receive the relevant level of APT’s accreditation on completing the course(s) as well as APT's downloadable resources.
A 3-day course.
To identify people's key schemas is as close as we get to finding 'what makes a person tick'.
A schema is a package of behaviour, biology, emotion and cognitions, which all fire off when triggered by the right stimulus. So if someone has a strong schema of 'mistrust', this will easily be triggered in situations which may not warrant mistrust. This will have unfortunate results for their relationships and more; a person's mistrusting behaviour is not good to receive. The course is about (a) how to identify the schemas that people have, and (b) how to intervene to modify those schemas to the benefit of everyone.
Available to everybody.
This exam is available free of charge to those who have attended the APT course SFCT Essentials, and for a fee to those who have attended similar training from another provider.
It is a web based exam with a high pass mark of 85% and gains you Level 2 in APT accreditation of Schema-Focused Cognitive Therapy. If you don't pass first time you can review the course material and sit it again.
A 3-day course.
This course is available Onsite (we come to you and deliver it to a group of up to 15 delegates).
This is a course for people who have at least 6 months practice subsequent to receiving Level 3 APT-Accreditation (often much more). In lectures, the masterclass provides more depth on some of the topics in the Essentials course but is mainly focused on developing skill, based around the following components: listening to and making case presentations, watching video demos by others, role-play/real-play where you interview others and they interview you, and establishing a stable system for support and development for yourself in this area post course. The result is that you enhance your skill and technique, not just your knowledge. Successful completion also gains you APT's Level 4 accreditation in the subject.
