A 2-day course we bring to your own organisation. (Refresher course also available.)
As the title suggests, this course is about establishing good school attendance in young people who, for whatever reason, are not attending regularly or at all. The course is intended for relatively high level professionals such as educational psychologists and CAMHS professionals, who are or will be able to work with the concept of case formulation. The reason for this is that the course teaches the principle that to intervene effectively in this area you must have a good formulation of the problem, and it shows how to achieve that. From the formulation a good plan of action follows, and the course examines some of the most effective interventions. Students on the course are encouraged to address their own caseload and generate formulations and interventions around the cases therein.
People who attend this course normally fall into one of two categories:
1. Professionals who see patients in 1:1 treatment settings, have a significant degree of clinical skill, and wish to improve their skill in working with young people who are unable to attend school regularly or at all.
2. 'Whole teams' (for example of educational psychologists) seeking to develop a common development of their expertise in this area.
You will be registered as having attended the course, thereby gaining APT's Level 1 accreditation, and receive a certificate to this effect. The accreditation gives you access to online resources associated with the course.
Your registration lasts indefinitely, and your accreditation lasts for 3 years and is renewable by sitting an online refresher which also upgrades your accreditation to APT Level 2 if you are successful in the associated online exam.
Your accreditation is given value by the fact of over 100,000 people having attended APT training. See APT accreditation for full details.
Option 1: Bring the course to your organisation:
We bring this 2-day course to your own organisation for a fixed, all-inclusive fee of £3,250 plus VAT and up to 15 people can attend.
To book, call (UK) 0116 241 8331, or click the button:
Option 2: 'Train the Trainer':
If you or a colleague are a senior professional (e.g. consultant psychologist) and have a talent for communication and teaching, then you are welcome to apply to become an APT-accredited tutor. You could then tutor the course - or your chosen modules from it - in your own organisation, under license.
This is not only a highly appropriate use of senior professionals, but it also saves your organisation the tutor-component of the fee (around 50%) each time you run it or your chosen modules.

Average Relevance rating: 94%

APT prides itself on the feedback we receive about our courses. Below are just some of the great comments the 'Removing the blocks to good School Attendance' course has received.
“I enjoyed and benefited from this course and feel that I would be able to use the information provided in my professional practice.”
“I always enjoy being inspired/reenergised and to get experience of new tools I can use to be effective in my job. I also enjoy learning new little mantras which I can take away with me and I can pull out when the daily stresses of the job (and life in general get on top of me).”
