Part 1. Manager Preparation (if required) - a 1-day course in Leicester.

• A course covering the 16 core standards and what your team needs to know.

• The Core 16 training process explained (the 3 components above) and how the topics
   relate to the 16 essential standards.

• View (a) a sample video topic / DVD (b) an online examination and (c) a learning to
  practice project.

• Strategy planning - time to think and help you to develop your Core 16 training
   strategy regarding:

  > Launching Core 16 training as a regular part of the working week (e.g. communication,
     leadership and monitoring issues).

  > Practical considerations (e.g. when staff will watch the video content, access the online
     exams, print off the projects, secure storage, borrowing discs, internet links etc.).

  > Choosing which topics (see below) would suit your team best.

  > Set the best reporting intervals and timing.

  > Set appropriate refresher training intervals (1-2 years).

Cost: A 'once off' cost of £248 plus VAT per manager.

Part 2. Training for service providers

a) APT's purpose-made video content

Access to a set of 16 key video topics (in DVDs or in e-learning format) each lasting around 15 minutes. The topics are updated as and when CQC requirements change. The e-learning packages can also be incorporated into your organisationÕs LMS if required.

The topics are divided into two categories:

1. Generic, applicable to all settings.
2. Specialist topics, focused on the needs of your particular service users.

Each customer's set of video topics will usually comprise the generic set (above) and their choice of 6 further topics that best suit their service from a menu of 32. Alternatively, you may wish to assemble a bespoke package for your service by choosing alternative combinations of video content.

b) Online exams

When each person feels ready, they can attempt the online exam which quickly but effectively examines their understanding of the content. They can take the exam as often as they like but they cannot pass by simply recalling the content without understanding it well. A success (score over 85%) triggers their registration at APT and they can print off an online certificate for that topic indicating their score. Finally, at no extra charge, each participant who passes all 16 exams will be sent a full certificate from APT.



c) Learning to Practise projects

On completion of each online exam, each of your staff can then print off a 'learning to practise' project for each topic to be completed at work in liaison with their manager or supervisor to help the transfer of that topic's content into his/her day to day work.

Cost: Charged at a per-person per-year rate depending on the volume purchased:

For access to 16 topics (DVD or e-learning module formats) along with their 16 online exams and learning to practice projects':

• For 1 to 100 staff the price is £45 plus VAT per person.
• For 101 to 499 staff the price is £35 plus VAT per person.
• For 500 or more staff the price is £25 plus VAT per person.

Part 3.  Management reports (if required)

These are produced at agreed intervals to show who has passed which topics.

Cost: £75 plus VAT per report.
