High impact training days brought to you.
............................................................................................................................................
Pioneered in recent years, the format is a simple one - one tutor addresses a group at your choice of venue, about a specific topic of relevance. So what exactly are the benefits?
............................................................................................................................................
1. Brilliant in concept.
Each Targeted Training Day 'creams off' the most important information from two, three or even more of APT's top 3-day training courses, so each day represents 'the state of the art'. For many people this intensive one-day input may be enough, which is therefore extremely cost effective. And those who do need more have a great pointer as to exactly what they need, making their future personal development highly cost effective too.
............................................................................................................................................
2. High value.
Whereas the cost of sending an individual – or a group of individuals – to a one-day event can be anything up to several hundreds of pounds, plus travel and accommodation, per person, the cost here is between £25 and £75 per person depending on numbers, and with no travel or accommodation costs. (Even the speaker's expenses are built into the fee.)
............................................................................................................................................
3. Very well received by delegates.
With written feedback such as 'this is the best CPD
we have ever done' and 'I could have listened to
the speaker all day long, it was interesting, exciting, inspiring', Targeted Training Days have gone down a storm with delegates.
............................................................................................................................................
4. Key titles available.
There are seven titles you can attend in London (see below), and a much wider range that we can bring to you. The ones we can bring to you will normally tell you that by the course details. Otherwise, contact us to enquire.
............................................................................................................................................
5. High relevance.
What makes it a Targeted Training Day rather than an academic conference is that the speaker presents the most interesting, relevant and useful material to date rather than 'latest research findings'. And this is why delegates find it so stimulating – because the content is high on techniques and case examples, they can readily envisage applying the material back at their own work.
............................................................................................................................................
6. Unique guarantee – you pay only for those delegates who have found it very beneficial!
Uniquely, these Targeted Training Days are covered by 'an active guarantee'. Delegates are asked to give feedback on (a) presentation quality and (b) relevance/usefulness on a 7 point scale where 1 is bad, 4 is middle and 7 is good. You only pay for delegates who rate 5 and above (not 4 and above) on both scales. As far as we know this presents an unrivalled guarantee on the effective use of resources.

7 titles to choose from:
............................................................................................................................................
1: Psychological Therapies.
Massively ambitious this day overviews CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Schema Focused Cognitive Therapy. This makes for
a day that is full of case examples and techniques, and so enables delegates to immediately improve their skills and judge their development needs if any.
............................................................................................................................................
2: Personality Disorder.
This day looks at the nature of personality disorder, common definitions, the kind of behaviours that get people diagnosed as having a personality disorder, and, just as important, popular misconceptions about personality disorder. It examines the most difficult 'management problems' and overviews some of the more widely used psychological interventions including the RAID approach, DBT and Schema Focused Cognitive Therapy.
............................................................................................................................................
3: Aggression and Violence.
This day looks at the nature of aggression and violence and where it comes from. It overviews the major preventative, diffusion and management strategies covered in (a) APT's RAID course and (b) the Preventing Face to Face Violence course, as well as examining some long term treatment strategies for violent people. Finally there is input on handling the stress that aggression and violence can create.
............................................................................................................................................
4: Risk in Mental Health.
This important day covers an overview of risk assessment, and in particular the strategies that make for either good or bad assessments. In part two it looks at the prevention of suicide, especially by working with the person concerned. In part three, aggression and violence are examined in the same way. Part four comprises an overview, summary and quiz.
............................................................................................................................................
5: Psychosis.
Part one of this day examines everyday interactions with people who are prone to recurring psychotic episodes. It especially addresses the most frequently asked questions about such interactions including how to respond to delusional talk and to agitation. Part two looks at specific ways of addressing delusional thinking. Part three looks the influence of the family and how that can be shaped for the better. Finally part four puts it all together and forms a summary.

6: Working with Children and Adolescents.
This is a very full day that overviews key aspects
of Attachment Disorder in part one, Psychosocial Interventions with ADHD in part two, and Autism and Asperger's Syndrome in part three. Additionally the prevalence of self harm and intervention strategies for it, and the RAID approach to parenting are both highlighted in a way that strives to bring the whole day together.

7: Working with Older People.
This input overviews key knowledge and skills for working with older people, in a variety of settings.
It therefore summarises the processes that take place with ageing, looks at dementia and strokes, examines the nature of depression in older people and highlights the prejudices that may occur in people who are not yet old. The aim is to describe strategies for interacting effectively and rewardingly with older people, wherever you work.
