A 5-day course to learn the skills to be a competent practitioner in Behavioural Couples Therapy.

•  To teach practical ways of doing the therapy.

•  To enable therapist to conduct couples sessions.

•  To be familiar with a 10 session programme.

•  To be competent to utilise the techniques - behavioural and couples-based - to
   achieve the desired outcomes.

•  To enable therapists to apply behavioural couples approaches to (a) substance misuse
   and (b) depression.

This course covers an empirically supported approach for treating people with substance abuse problems and/or depression. Behavioural couples therapy explicitly focuses on both substance use and relationship issues and is specifically relevant to people who have problems in the area of substance misuse or depression. The course enables you to utilise BCT: to implement a recovery contract to support abstinence; work with clients to increase positive activities, improve communication, and reduce relapse risks; and deal with special treatment challenges. Included in the course are checklists and forms for your subsequent clinical use.
